Turn aside. Look closer.

Notes from Exodus 3.

"God saw that he had stopped to look" MSG
"When the lord saw that he turned aside to see" ESV
My favorite: "When the lord saw Moses coming to take a closer look" NLT
So I've come to the conclusion that God will speak to us when we listen for him. It would've been foolish for Moses to ignore this amazing sight anyways, as it would be for myself to ignore God in today's world; but what did Moses do when he saw God's splendor? He "turned aside to see", he "stopped to look", he looked closer"; and what did God do in return? He spoke to Moses, and then he told him what to do in his presence, "take off your sandals, you are on holy ground." Take note, Moses had to remove something before God told him what he was to do next.
After this God goes on to continue leading Moses, remember he had to be obedient for all this to work, and in return, God frees an entire nation.
What I'm getting at is that by obeying God Moses did great things, and we can do great things as well.
When we "turn aside" and "look closer," God will tell us how we need to get right with him first "take off your sandals", and afterwards he will lead us to do mighty things.
